Independent café serving some of the best breakfasts in this part of south London – think half greasy spoon half American diner.
The breakfast options are hard to choose from – there’s full English sitting alongside eggs benedict and American waffles and bacon. It’s all the experience of a proper English builder’s café, but much higher quality food and more choice. There’s plenty of none-breakfast things on the menu, like burgers and salads, but for me this is food for a hangover.
This is one of those gems of a breakfast place that you should keep in the bank for those desperate ‘mornings after the night before’ – but be warned there’s usually a bit of a queue for a table at weekends so maybe not one for if you’re in a massive hurry (we waited about 10-15 minutes). It’s not as good food-wise as its breakfast neighbour Brew on the Northcote Road, but you’re more likely to get a table.
Go there if…
You’re craving a fry up but you’re with a slightly classier companion for whom the ECBC is just not going to cut it.
You’d rather have your tea in a cup than a mug.
If you’re pretending to have been there don’t forget to mention…
The soft drinks are bottomless – so exactly what you need in a dehydrated state.
